Anna began her studies with New Zealand College of Massage in 2009 and studied full time for 2 years to gain her Diploma in Health Sciences and Therapeutic Massage.

The course included two years of musculoskeletal studies, one year of anatomy and physiology, one year of pathophysiology, a year of health psychology, two years of clinical therapeutics and many more fabulous electives, short courses, placements and a student run clinic.

This has equipped Anna with an array of skills from trigger point release, myofascial release Neuromuscular therapy and PNF stretching which allows her to work both therapeutically and remedially.

These techniques are utilised within Anna’s massage style which is based on broad, warming Swedish massage strokes and are applied to suit the client’s individual needs and preferences.

During the turbulent years of Covid19, Anna busied herself with studying and upskilling. The first short course she took was one to gain her certificate in McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release. This was a day course learning specific techniques and going over fascia, scar tissue and scar types and how they impact mobility, pain and other facets of a person’s daily life. She then had to treat 5 clients with MSTR and complete 5 case studies.

Anna then took 6 months to complete a Certificate in Psychology and Counselling which provides a stepping stone into the world of mental health, something she is deeply passionate about.

This qualifies her as a triage counsellor, which broadens her scope slightly, to enable her to hold space and listen to the wider impact of a client’s mental health on their daily life and overall health picture. From that, Anna can help them come up with strategies to cope with various challenges or refer out.  Anna’s scope does not include the unpacking, processing or ‘releasing’ of psychological trauma at any time.
